Before your policy term is over, we'll let you know that it's time to renew your auto insurance policy.

How can I pay for my auto insurance policy?

So that it's easy and convenient to buy your auto insurance policy, you can use credit and debit cards featuring the MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express logos.

Some preferred customers also have the option of paying their auto insurance premium in monthly installments.

Do I need to pay a deposit when I buy my auto insurance policy?

When you buy your auto insurance policy, if you pay in full, no deposit is required.

If you're a preferred customer who chooses to pay your auto insurance premium in installments, your first payment to Esurance must be equal to at least 2 months of coverage before your auto insurance policy is considered active.

Until we have received either this payment or payment in full, you are not covered by your Esurance auto insurance policy.

Are there any fees charged when I buy my auto insurance policy?

Because we don't want to raise our auto insurance rates for all of our customers, we charge fees to cover the cost of certain transactions. Some states also legally require us to collect certain fees which are then given back to your state.

Certain fees aren't applicable in every state; fee amounts also differ from state to state. Applicable fees and their exact amounts are shown when you buy and renew your auto insurance policy.

What's a finance notification fee?

If your auto's leased or financed, we notify your finance or leasing company right after you buy your auto insurance policy. This time-saving service prevents the finance or leasing company from purchasing additional auto insurance coverage for you, which can be very costly.

To cover the costs of this notification service, we may charge a nominal fee for each financed/leased auto listed on your auto insurance policy.

What's an installment payment service fee?

If you pay your auto insurance premium in monthly installments, we may charge a nominal service fee each month to cover our processing expenses.

To avoid paying this monthly service fee, you can pay in full when you buy your auto insurance policy.

What's a paper documentation fee?

To help keep your premium lower, we send many of your auto insurance documents via email and store all of your auto insurance documents electronically.

If you choose to receive paper copies of your auto insurance documents via standard mail, we may charge you a paper document fee to cover the expense of printing and sending those documents to you. (In short, by receiving your auto insurance documents electronically, you save a few dollars and a few trees!)

What's a policy fee?

In some states, we charge a policy fee to cover certain expenses related to issuing and renewing your auto insurance policy.

What are state-mandated fees?

Some states require us to collect a fee for each vehicle you insure. We collect this fee from you and give it to your state as required by law.

Such fees are typically used by states to create reserves of funds for catastrophic claims settlement, or for damages resulting from accidents involving drivers who lack proper auto insurance coverage.
